The Naming of Cats | A Cats Musical Fanzine is a CATS themed zine that's dedicated towards the wonderful cast of characters from CATS and the different interpretations of the characters from different productions!
Specifications
This zine will be an A5, perfect-bound book, available both physically and digitally with a variety of merchandise.
It will include 25 page artists, 5 writers, 7 merch artists, and 3 print artists.
3 guest artists and 2 guest writers will be invited to contribute to the zine.
This zine is strictly SFW.Pre-order funds will be used for the production of the zine and merch, as well as compensation of contributors. We aim to provide all contributors with free full bundles, inclusive of the zines and all merchandise; however, if the profit margin is not high enough, there will be lower tiers (e.g. free shipping, free physical zines, etc.). Either way, contributors are guaranteed all digital items, including the digital zine. Any excess profits will then be donated to a chosen charity.
Contributor Expectations
Page Artists:
One (1) page focusing on their assigned character.Writers:
One (1) short story, at least 1000 words at minimum and no more than 2000 words at maximum.Merch Artists:
One (1) physical merch item and One (1) digital merch itemContributors will be asked to pitch at least 2-3 ideas and will be granted approval for one. They will have access to all the necessary templates and specs before we begin creation period!Page Artists may also be asked to illustrate two pages.

ROLES: Head Mod, Organization, Social Media, Shipping and Production, MerchEXPERIENCE: Peach has produced their own merch including notebooks, washi tape, sticky notes, bookmarks, tote bags, and art prints. They also handmake stickers and sticker sheets. Peach is currently prepping to open their own online store known as Sunflower Boba Co.
Peach has also recently hosted a successful Kickstarter Campaign to fund four character plushies from the anime Haikyuu!!
Peach has also been a contributor as a Merch Artist to several other zines which include the Matsuhana 2023 Calendar, To Have You As A Partner Iwaoi Zine, and currently the Haikyuu Tarot Project Zine.
ROLES: ArtEXPERIENCE: Sweet has had experience in doing commissions as well as participating in college presentations involving art.

General Questions
What is a zine?
A zine, or fanzine, is a non-official publication focusing on a specific thematic. It usually features a collection of artistic works such as illustrations and stories organized and compiled into a physical and/or digital book.Will the zine be physical or digital?
The zine will be both physical and digital.Is this zine for profit or for charity?
This zine will be a charity zine. A charity will be chosen by mods/contributors and the profits will be donated towards that cause.
Contributor Questions
Who can participate in this zine?
We are looking for page artists, merch artists, and writers to participate! We will only be accepting contributors who are at least 16 years of age.Do I need to have experience to participate?
Not at all! We welcome artists and writers of all levels of experience.How will contributors be compensated?
We aim to provide everyone with full physical bundles. However, if the profit margin is not high enough, we will be providing lower tiers (e.g. free shipping, zines only, etc.). Digital bundles are guaranteed for all contributors.Is traditional art allowed?
Yes, but the traditional art contributors are responsible to present a neatly scanned photo of their artwork to be sent to the Mods as well as create the artwork in the desired dimensions.How many contributors do you plan on accepting?
We plan to bring on 25 page artists, 5 writers, 7 merch artists, and 3 print artists, but this is subject to change depending on application turnout.Will contributors be allowed to illustrate more than one character to draw for?
Since some characters require two pages, each drawn by separate artists, there will be a question in the contributor form asking if you'd like to create another page illustration. You may be contacted if this happens.
Content Questions
Will ships be allowed?
All ships must remain platonic to prevent ship discourse.Is this zine SFW? Will you make a NSFW side zine?
This zine will only be an exclusively safe for work project. There will not be an NSFW side zine and all pieces included in the project will be fully SFW.Will Non-Replica productions be included?
3 separate art prints will be dedicated to any of the CATS Non-Replica productions, included in the merch bundles.Are OCs allowed?
To lessen the amount of content included in the zine, it is decided to have only canon, established characters that are in CATS.
